self-cleanin'

It's amazing.....
Bob bought a used Norge fridge & stove 2 years ago for $50 each. They look new, although they are about 10 years old. Martha Stewart I ain't (I have a kitchen magnet that proclaims she doesn't live here), so the oven has been as clean as new from day one. However, the last time I cooked a salmon roast, it was so darned blustery outside that I baked it in the oven instead of on the bbq. Well, how was I supposed to know the foil would split and all that odorous juice would drip onto the oven floor, and simmer to a nice burnt crust? Actually, I found out only when I baked (yes, really!) scones about 2 weeks later. The aroma wasn't what I expected, and the flavour wasn't too great either. Salmon scones...hmmm.
Anyway, yesterday I test-drove the 'self-clean' button on the oven. Hallelujah, that thing is amazing. Now that I know what great a job it does (without chemicals-yay!), I might use that oven thing more often....which would mean maybe 3 times in one year! I think I remember how to turn it on....

Oh, that's great news!! Especially since Chris is coming over soon and may even USE your oven again.....that usually means a spill or two, non?

THAT'S what my life is missing.
A self-cleaning oven! Perhaps I will negotiate with the hubby for that next time. Since I'm the Martha around here who cooks, bakes and cleans our crusty oven!
