Recent Sighting

My drive home from work takes me through a beautiful but very eclectic village. The majority of the residents are still stuck in the 60's. Tie-dyed shirts, cannibas, babyboomers sporting gray ponytails. I feel the vibes, man. Were we all at the Easter Be-In in '70 at Stanley Park?
The business section includes many spiritual shops - the wares and people are always interesting to peruse. I thought I'd pretty much got acclimated to all there is to see in this area. Not so.
A couple of weeks ago while driving home I noticed a ponytailed man pushing a wheelbarrow along the highway. I've seen people taking their bikes (pedal & motor) out for a walk (flat tire?), but this was a first. Hmph, how unusual I noted.
As I drove past the man & the wheelbarrow, I realized just how unusual this scene was. Because, inside the wheelbarrow was a baby car seat! I didn't actually see a baby inside the car seat, but I'm gonna bet there was one. They were nowhere near a residence, so I can only imagine where they came from and where they were going to! Let's imagine, shall we?

I think Mr Ponytail was caring for Baby Ponytail and decided to drive into town to buy some supplies. Baby Ponytail was safely ensconced in her carseat for the roadtrip. After taking a gander through the stores (including one that has goats grazing on the roof), and buying their supplies, Mr & Baby Ponytail were strapped back into their 1971 Chevette. But, alas it wouldn't start. They live about 5 miles from town; Mr. Ponytail knew he could walk that far, but what about carrying Baby Ponytail. She would be a squirmy, soggy handful in about 10 minutes. Aha! His friend runs the feed store, and although his friend couldn't give him a ride home (because she doesn't have a car), she would let him borrow a wheelbarrow. Problem solved! And I'll bet Baby Ponytail slept all the way home, because I think the suspension on a 71 Chevette is about the same as a wheelbarrow bumping along a country highway.

I sure hope they made it home safe and I sure wish I knew the real story. But you know what, I wouldn't be at all surprised if my version turned out to be fact!
