Let’s see, what have I been doing this past month? Oh yeah… While Bob & Vanessa were away fishing, I had the responsibility of walking the dog… pre-coffee, post work and post supper. Now I’m not complaining – Chile deserves all the walks he can convince his owners to join him on, however I must have coffee first! So there I was, at 5:00 a.m…brewing the java while Chile gazed lovingly into my eyes, begging to go pee. "In a minute" is a phrase he soon learned the meaning of. I also had the honour that week of opening the factory for the carpenters as the foreman was on holidays. Hmmm…enjoy coffee, walk the dog AND get to work 30 minutes early….AAACKK! Day 1 was a challenge, Day 2 was better and by Day 3 I got to work early enough to keep the staff happy. I finally got into a rhythm by Friday.
Also during this week, I was recalled for a 2nd mammogram on Monday and didn’t get the results until Friday (all is well).
Meanwhile my soulmate & offspring were enjoying an awesome week of bonding and fishing at Port Alice which is on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island.
They caught fish every day and our freezer is now full!
Friday night we packed up the motorhome & enjoyed a long weekend of camping at Elk Falls Provincial Park in Campbell River. Vanessa picked up Chris at the ferry and they joined us Saturday a.m. This was our 3rd trip to the campground and Tina, the park manager welcomed us with a personal message. See photo.

(Hint…goldfish are reported to have a memory span of 3 seconds….it’s my new nickname)
Vanessa & Chris climbed a mountain at Strathcona while Bob & I did what we do best – eat, read, sleep repeat. It was great to be camping with the kids. Us in our MoHo (motorhome) and they in their teeny tiny mountaineer style tent.

After that trip, it was time to get packing. We took possession of our house on October 16th. (see previous blog report for photos and details). It is now the 19th, we have moved a few boxes and set up the guest bedroom. Bob has already started demolishing one wall that will expand the living room. Our ‘to do’ list changes hourly, but we must replace the vinyl exterior siding (cedar board & batten), install a wood burning stove, knock out 2 walls to expand the living room/kitchen, move the fridge & pantry to a different wall, build an interior doorway into the master bedroom (access is through the bathroom/laundry room ….i don’t know why either) and find room for all our stuff. Right-O. Did I ever tell you the story of the fence at our first home in Armstrong? We lived there 10 years, the fence was ¾ completed when we sold it. Yeah, I’ll keep you posted!
And I found out today that our Internet provider (Telus) does not have highspeed in that area. The boundary is about 2 blocks from us! AAACK!
So it’s back to Shaw. I’ll send an email when I know our new address.
